Why we care so much about celebrities

by Daniel Creil

Created on: December 09, 2008

Celebrities are the "face" of our society. We see them everyday on television, we hear them on the radio, we talk about their lives and we discuss their actions with the people we know. It is not possible not to care about them as they can be seen everywhere!

Celebrities somehow managed to get more out of his or her career. He has skills and character that more people adore and want to see and hear on the radio and in television. We give them our money when we buy their disc, watch the movie where they took part in and when we see them in-live shows. We have rights to look after their lives and be informed of what is happening with them.

So we start to collect information. We buy magazines and newspapers that provide the information about celebrities. And we like to hear and know the newest information, the latest one. So magazines and newspapers hire journalists who can make magnificent and amazing interviews with celebrities of your interest. We adore those interviews that can get out of celebrity information that he wont tell to us in other situations. We make shows and interviews that can push celebrity to show his emotions. In rewards, we pay money for a newspaper so they can keep up the work.

The more `incognito` the information is that they have found out about celebrities, the more curious we are to get this information. Paparazzi people are making big money if they manage to caught a celebrity in their lies or newest activities and hobbies. If they can prove to us that celebrities are a normal human beings like we are.

And then we share this information with others who know and might be interested to get this information. We share our thoughts and impressions about celebrities: their divorces and marriages, their cocktail dresses, the songs they have written this year or the movies where they have taken or will take part in.

We don't talk so much about our friends and relatives, because the person to whom you speak to might not know your friend, and your friend might not know your relatives. So they don't really want to know what was your sister wearing at her wedding or when did your boss divorce from his wife. But when you say: "Hey, did you know that Cameron Diaz." and popularity and interest for this topic has born.

Besides, it is much easier to get information about celebrities than your work colleague or international friends. Because few people are curious about these lives, but millions of people are curious to find out something new and interesting about a celebrity!
