One look under a microscope of the small microbes in your house is enough to make you think aliens have landed among your knick-knacks. Household dust is made up of a cocktail of our own dander and skin sloughing off, along with those we live with and the dust mites that eat everything in that cocktail. In turn the dust mites leave their own debris behind, which some people are allergic to.
You need to be aware that even small daily choices change the environment around you. If you are suffering an increase in allergies it may be your body's way of telling you it has reached its level of toxicity. We are all exposed to toxins, but some people truly suffer more than others, until they seem to be allergic to the entire world. For these people a regime of medications and even specially designed allergy shots are the only thing that makes life bearable.
Living with allergies can be a nuisance, but by taking simple steps to alter the world around you allergies can be tamed and you can protect yourself from further health problems.
When you buy a new home, have a furnace/ air conditioner unit put in that uses a special air purification system. These tend to cost more than your average heating and cooling units, but they will be well worth the price if it means you can breathe comfortably in your own home. Make sure that it has filters that can be taken out and rinsed.
If you move into a home that already has an existing heating / cooling unit have a cleaning service clean out all the air ducts before moving in. Then patch any leaks in the duct work with a strong duct tape.
Use the more expensive Hepa filters instead of the cheaper filters for your heating and cooling unit; change them at least once a month, more if you have pets or someone who smokes.

There are portable air filters for individual rooms. Make sure you get one big enough to clean all the air in the room you are gong to place it in and that it has an easy to clean filter. Having to send off for paper filters or find those in a store can be tedious. Noise can be a consideration too; some people can't stand the noise some of these machines can make
