Although well-known for the theme parks and resorts in and around it, Orlando has much more to offer. Here are some places that families with children may enjoy visiting. Remember this is just a guide - taking time to learn more will help you make the best decisions for your family.
Orlando Science Centre
At the Orlando Science Centre children can enjoy hands-on fun interactive exhibits, live programming, giant-screen films and exploring the night-time skies. Most films are for all ages - a check of the program on the website will tell you what's on. Touring exhibits pass through regularly, including, recently, Alien Earths and Beakman's World on Tour. Again it's best to check the website for things which will interest your children to be sure you visit those exhibits. On Saturdays 6 to 9 pm children can take advantage of the Skywatch Program at the Crosby Observatory on top of the Centre, home to Florida's largest publicly accessible refractor telescope, to do some real stargazing.

Aquatica
The Aquatica water park has slides and interactive play areas, beach and picnic areas, showers, changing areas, a nursing mother's station, dining facilities, and cabanas and lockers and towels for rent. The water is warm, and children will enjoy the slides and interactive play areas. Different rides and slides are suitable for different ages, from toddlers to teens, and height restrictions apply on some. The number of people in the park at any one time is limited, making crowds less of a concern for those already there.

Seaworld
At Seaworld children learn about and interact with marine mammals and fish, learn about the care of endangered and injured animals, and are introduced to exotic birds. Programs and tours range from a seven hour walking tour of the facility to one hour tours introducing various areas. Children must be at least ten years old to take part in some programs. When making plans for a visit it is a good idea to check for current programs, prices and restrictions.
