Eighteen Must Go to Destinations for Kids in the Big Apple

1. Central Park (www.centralpark.com): No trip to NYC would be complete without a trip to Central Park. The park runs from 110 street down to 59 street and is bordered by Central Park West (on the Upper West Side) and Fifth Avenue on the Upper East Side.

There is something for every season and kids of every age at the park. The Central Park Zoo is a hit with kids of any age. (Located on the east side of the park at E. 66 Street and Fifth Avenue). Children of all ages will also enjoy Wolman Rink for ice skating in the winter and roller skating in the spring though early fall. Younger children will enjoy the various playgrounds scattered through the park. Teenage music lovers will appreciate the John Lennon tribute at Strawberry Fields (W. 72nd Street and Central Park West).

2. FAO Schwartz (www.FAO.com): There is no greater toy store in the country then FOA Schwartz. With everything from Madam Alexander Dolls to an extensive Harry Potter section, the store has boys and girls of every age. Your children will love dancing on the large keyboard just like Tom Hanks did in BIG. The lower level of the store features old fashioned toys such as kaleidoscopes and jack in the boxes. There is also a soda fountain and candy shop. (W. 59 Street and Fifth Avenue)

3. Children's Museum of Manhattan (www.cmom.org 212-721-1223): This is the best museum for children ages 3-8. The Children's Museum hosts exhibits that are fun and educational. The exhibits often mirror what is currently on display at the Museum of Natural History. (212 W. 83rd between Amsterdam and Broadway)

4. The Museum of Natural History (www.amnh.org): If your children are too old for the Children's Museum then the Museum of Natural History is a good substitute. This is the perfect venue for kids ages 8 and up. There are special exhibits all of the time but the permanent exhibits are just as enjoyable. From the Rose Planetarium to the dinosaurs there is something for every science lover in your family. (Central Park West and W. 79th Street).

5. Alice's Tea Cup: (alicesteacup.com) In a city with thousands of restaurants it can be surprisingly challenging to find family friendly ones. With three locations, Alice's Tea Cup is a great choice for children 3-up. If you just need a snack and to wet your whistle the pasties and teas are a unique treat. The restaurant also serves kid friendly meals that are sure to please the most finicky eaters. (102 W. 73, 156
