A Father's Request
The day I held you, son
is one forever etched upon my heart
as time passes, what's done
through heartbreaks and aches, I try to unravel
of time lost under the sun-
A father's pain
empty arms, nowhere are you
I hope one day to gain
the laughter you do give
like soft gentle rain-
My pride and joy
frozen in place in the web of my mind
never forgotten, always my little boy
each day, the bond growing
even more so now as I conjure up a ploy-
That brings about a father's request
to find where you may be
is the one staunch test
of my faith and love for you
carrying me throughout on this quest.

I think because I'm a girl,

Heavenly Wishes
All of my life, whether present or apart,
Father was held dear in my heart.
I think of all the things you had
With weathered hands
and nails bitten to the quick
you still manage
to button up your shirt
and lace up your shoes

Father
You are the best
In the honesty
Of the best
You have spoken
Of life
To do the best
But never to
Push
To topple yourself
