When election eve rolled around this year, my republican husband, my granddaughter and myself joined hands in our living room and prayed like this, "Lord, direct the hearts of the people tomorrow as we cast our votes at the polls so the right team for our country is elected. In Jesus Name, Amen." We are a God believing family of republicans and in the back of my mind, I felt my answer was to have the McCain-Palin team elected as our next president and vice-president. I mentioned earlier of my faith in God, and I know my prayer was heard and answered. I am convinced within my heart the right team is in place. Everyday when our President-elect presents another member of his cabinet, I am proud I prayed and trusted God to take over.
The president-elect has inherited an enormous amount of unsolved problems to resolve. If I were having any input into what the agenda would be, what would I put at the top of the list? I believe the root of our problems is that our country is divided and a divided country cannot stand. President-elect Obama will need a loyal staff, and a group of dedicated officials, to get this country back to its rightful standing in the world system. Our problems have stemmed from dishonesty. Dishonesty on all levels, not just government. More and more corruption is surfacing daily. I am keeping my fingers crossed and praying, our president-elect will prove to be innocent of all wrong doings of any significance in his forty plus years and no dirt will surface before he is sworn in and to date none has.
In our economical system dishonest principals carried on by dishonest people have become a way of life and now it is payday. For years my husband and I would see other people with the same job status as we, buying big cars such as we couldn't afford, building huge houses such as we couldn't afford, going shopping and on regular vacation trips such as we couldn't afford, giving their children cars, phones, and money we couldn't afford, and we would wonder where on earth their money was coming from. We knew we budgeted well and we couldn't afford that kind of living. Neither could they. They were living far beyond their means, charging more than they could pay back getting deeper and deeper in debt. Now our local paper is filled with the foreclosure notices and my heart breaks. These folks we watched live like they made so much more money than we made could not afford their life style anymore than we, yet some credit card company kept opening new accounts our neighbors kept using. I can't count the offers for credit cards I put in the garbage before my freshman year daughter living with me ever knew they came. I knew she didn't need a credit card. She didn't have the money to pay another monthly bill on top of her others.
I want our president elect to make it tough on credit companies who extend loans to people who do not have the means to pay back the loans and if it happens, whoever is responsible for it should be held accountable. Clean up the economy by cleaning up the dishonesty. .Make it tough on those who try to get their hooks into our youth. Work on affordable education so children can graduate college without a huge debt hanging over their head. This issue should unite both sides of the isle because we all have children and grandchildren in need of an education.
And Mr. President-elect, concentrate on keeping your children and your wife first on your list of priorities. Don't loose these precious years you can never get back. From your own lips I heard you say you had not had enough mornings when the girls came and piled in the bed with you and Michelle. Time slips by so quickly. Delegate everything you can to the wonderful people you have surrounded yourself with. They are capable. With your leadership and our prayers and God's guidance you will lead us as Moses lead the Children of Israel out of bondage back to the land of promise. I'm from a long line of republicans and even I am writing you this in confidence. If you take care of yourself and your family first, you will be a far better leader of this wonderful country. America must believe in you to change things, America elected you, I believe in you because I believe you are in place because of devine intervention and if God be for us who can be against us?
