With the economy in its current unpleasant state, this is when you really hope that it's the thought that counts. Tight budgeting has most people looking for great bargains or a way to make their money stretch. Luckily, there are a variety of ideas that will let you give gifts to all your loved ones without putting you more in debt.
*Ebay I love to give unique gifts for the Christmas and there's no better place to find them than Ebay. You can find everything from a beautiful 1920s pendant, to an electric shock prank key fob. The great thing about auctions is that you get the most bang for your buck and win items at reasonable prices.
*Homemade Gifts Who can say no to homemade cookies and treats? The possibilities of homemade items are endless and some not costing more than ten dollars. The trick with making homemade gifts look wonderful is all in the packaging. At your local dollar store you can find decorate treat bags and colorful ribbon to help with your items. Even simple boxes with pretty tissue paper add pizzazz. Dip large marshmallows in chocolate and garnish with sprinkles or chopped nuts. If baking and cooking is not your cup of tea, try making homemade soaps. To make special for Christmas, add holiday scents like gingerbread, peppermint, or poinsettia. http://img3.allyou.com/images/ 200812/peppermint-soap-200.jpg
*Shop Thrift Sometimes you will be pleasantly surprised once you start browsing around thrift stores or other second-hand stores. I have been able to find new, brand name purses for no more than $20, and wool coats in excellent condition from $12-$30.
*Think small. For couples and families don't fret about getting something for everyone. To make it easier on your wallet, get something that all can share. A family pack of movie tickets, a board game, gift basket of goodies, or a gift card to a restaurant. See the larger picture instead of everyone individually. I'm sure this will be happening a lot this season the way everyone is trying to save.
*Made a donation in the recipient's name. Is your recipient a supporter of animal rights? Make a small donation in their name to the local humane society or the ASPCA. Does your recipient have a love of the arts? Donate to a local arts organization. The amount of the donation is not the main thing, more importantly you are helping to support their interest and helping others.
*Keep it practical. Yes a 20-karat diamond ring would be wonderful, but really how much use can you get out of that? A scarf and gloves
