Poetry: Obsession

Obsession

Take apart my love for you
Freshly drizzled like morning dew
Hanging scarcely on my pain
Passion forever or your disdain

Who knew this was long term or more than a crush
That this would be a relationship you cannot rush
This fling I say will never end
A surprise you started as a friend

Taking aback by yesterday
Feelings ruttered by this delay
Rueful smiles of joy and laughter

Memories go on and on until after

I love a man who has that kind of will
To make me shutter and give me chills
You do more than that for me
You do more than I can see

Make way to hide your shadows best
The skillful tries I don't detest
Artful duties incompetent of mine
A matter of minutes is on the line

Taking forth from place to place
In staggered film I see your face
The wait is long to see you again
By sun up tomorrow you'll fly right in

You'll kiss me lightly on the cheek
And brush my hair until it's sleek
You'll run my bath before I wake
To lose you now would be my mistake

You'll watch me dearly as I undress
And from afar your eyes will suppress
You'll wait for me to finish my appearance
And be sure not to make an interference

Don't miss those smiles you put upon me
Or hold back jokes you think are funny
Pleasant dreams you give me to sleep on
Are only there until the next day's dawn

Don't hold back words you barely speak
I'll try to stay strong but I'm almost weak
Take heed to what you hear from me
Some glistening hope is what you see

I came too far to go back this way
So hold me close and hear what I say
The moments are short but always sincere
Keeping away the pain and bottled up fear

Your friends don't like me all that much
They talk about me behind your back and such
Tell them to stop because they're your friends
You can't hang out with them or this relationship ends

Who needs them anyway, they are not all that real
They don't care about me or even how you feel
They're not good role models and can be a bad influence
You compared to them does not come to congruence

Away for long you can't keep me guessing
You'll be back. I know. That's why I'm dressing
To begin you think you're all I need
A few things make up of how I succeed

My family's got love for me in more ways than one
I can still hang with them and actually say it was fun
For the many years I've loved you
They have accepted you too

My friends are all judgmental gals
But don't be uptight, they are my pals
If they see you're trying to be a little flirt
They'll come tell me and you'll get hurt

Don't be afraid to whisper in my ear
Or sing to me and keep me near
You know I like the
