How to be funny

Do you want to amuse others? Would you like to be one that makes others laugh till tears? Maybe you want to improve your skills?

Here are some tips that will help you to become a funnier person:

1.
Intonation of voice. Don't speak in a monotonous manner unless it is a part from the story! Make a difference, and variations in it. When you imitate a speech of a lady, change your voice and make the sound of higher intonation! When you imitate speech of old veteran, use the voice from the deep of your throat and make your voice to sound weak and old! If you have a role of storyteller who woke up only 5 minutes ago- then use the slow, silent and crunchy intonation of voice as it makes your story more real and vivid.

2.
Faces. Make a grimace! Make big eyes, show your tongue, imitate crying or laughing till death. Everything will do just fine, if you feel confident of what you are doing and have practiced these skills at home in front of the mirror. Otherwise people might think you feel sick, and instead of funny becoming a funny person you will look like a fool.

3.
Tell stories! Tell amazing and unbelievable stories. Tell something unreal and supernatural that will put a smile on other people faces! People like when someone puts all his best at trying to surprise others! Tell stories of a superman, who stuck in an elevator, and how you meet him and what conversation you had with him. Easter bunnies! We like them, we know it is not real (or is it?), but we continue to tell this story of Easter bunny and Santa Claus.

4.
Use your language as a tool: use different accents of your language: try to speak English like French people do, imitate baby speech, use your knowledge of other languages and cultures and shout: "Ola!" when you speak about Spanish people or "Oh-la-la" when you speak about French people. Play with words: we all know words that have more than one meaning, as well as we know that there are many different words that sound the same or similar. This one takes time for a public to understand, but it surely stays in theirs minds for a long!

5.
Use your own experiences. Tell people what troubles you had yesterday, a week ago or on your vacation trip! The ability to talk about problems and difficulties with an ease and humor is a talent that is always highly appreciated and very welcomed. People don't want to listen stories about events from the life of a famous celebrity. People much more welcome stories from their-like lives, something that they also have experienced or what they might experience in the nearest future.

6.
Avoid sarcastic jokes and insulting others. In the hands of amateur this might become the last time when the public allows you to joke!

Before you start to be funny for a particular audience, analyse it, as you do not want to tell jokes about blonds if more than half of your listeners are blond ladies, right? You will not use many jokes about old people, if half of the people in your audience are older then 55. So be carefull with this one as well, so you could prepare yourself in advance and make a bucket of different jokes and wide range of them, so nobody feels insulted or left behind.

I hope some of these tips helped you to imagine what does it mean to be a funny person, and how difficult art it actually is- to put smiles on other people faces!
