San Diego is the second largest city in California, so travelers can always find something to do. This includes families with small children. There's no shortage of kid-friendly attractions in lively San Diego. Best of all, the adults can have just as much fun as the little ones during their stay.
Model Railway Museum
To teach visitors about railroading , the San Diego Model Railway Museum uses historic replicas. Hundreds of volunteers design and build the models. These talented individuals are also responsible for funding. Exhibits include the Toy Train Gallery, Cabrillo Southwestern, and Tehachapi Pass (619.696.0199; 1649 El Prado, #121; all ages; http://www.sdmrm.org/).
Ruben H. Fleet Science Center
What do an IMAX theater, planetarium shows, and ever-changing exhibits have in common? They're all integral parts of the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center. Interactive exhibits and virtual reality make this place fun for those age 7 to 107, while the "Kid City" section caters especially to children ages 6 and under (619.238.1233; 1875 El Prado; ages 3+; http://www.rhfleet.org/.
