say they'll be there. There's nothing worse than last-minute cancellations or not knowing where your friends are when you need or want them.
viii) Positive
A friend should have a positive influence on your life and not carry you to certain places without bringing you back. Positivity also refers to your friend's effect on your emotions. A draining or clingy friend is unlikely to make you happy. Incontrovertibly, it is important not to have minions of misery posing as friends.
ix) Understanding
A friend should "get" you. Understanding also applies to your needs and desires. Even when you're being somewhat naughty, your friend would be able to forgive petty grievances and do their part in maintaining harmony in the friendship.
x) Responsible
You don't always want to be the designated driver. Your friends should display a certain degree of responsibility that comes with maturity. It's ok to be wild to an extent every so often, but not to the detriment of others. A friend should also be responsible with regard to your friendship. They should never seek to abuse the friendship or abuse their position by attempting to manipulate you.
Naturally, some friends would have stronger characteristics than others. In an ideal world, every friend will have all ten qualities. The reality is that friends rarely possess all of these qualities (not at the same time anyway). However, it's important not to lower the bar too much though.
