What kind of rediculas question is that? If you want to be a Scrooge, Scrooge it up on your own time, and leave Santa out of it!
With all the violence, corruption and just plain EVIL going on in the world. Who wouldn't encourage the belief of "Santa Claus". He is dependable, comes the same time every year, he does not see race or gender, he loves everyone. He is a jolly fellow, and encourages the world to be kind to one another. It's because of him we learn that is feels better to give than to receive. Santa is the roll model we all wish we could be for our children! It is MY opinion that those of you who discourage this belief are SELFISH and you have fallen a victim to the commercial aspect of the Holiday Season. You'd rather your child gave you recognition for ALL of the gifts they receive, then share some of that glory with Santa! That's pretty sad, if you ask me!
There are many of our life long traditions that are being thrown by the way side these days! With so many different ways to communicate through technology, the need for personal interaction seems to be less and less. Along with that, is the loss of so many of our families values and traditions, as well as value for tradition! Santa IS THE symbol of Christmas, like a witch is to Halloween, or bunnies are to Easter. I know there is a much greater meaning of Christmas, but Santa has been a part of the tradition, almost as long as Jesus. BUT...... Even people who believe in a different God, or creator still look For Santa, Kris Cringle, Pere Noel, December 24 & 25. He is a man of many different names and faces!
Christmas is the most anticipated holiday of the year, by the young and young at heart! Weather you are 1 or 105 the name Santa Claus, will have come from your lips at least once, between the months of November and January! With the world falling apart around us, I believe that children need myths and fairytales to believe in, now more than ever before! It helps them be imaginative and creative! Just think back to when you were a child, what would it have been like if you didn't or couldn't, believe in unicorns, trolls, fairies, the laciness monster, dragons, Bat Man, Santa Claus, or the Easter Bunny. The list of fictional characters can go on and on, but my point is, if YOU didn't have these fictional characters growing up, life would have been pretty boring. Right? When you were feeling down in the dumps or a bit sad. It was normal to look to any one of our fairytale friends for a little relief! It wasn't that long ago that things like, T.V.s, cell phones, video games, personal computers, and yes even cyberspace, were non existing, haha! Toys and games were expensive, so you were required to use your imagination to amuse yourself and your siblings.
All too often children are expected to grow up much too fast! They don't seem to get the chance to actually be a kid. As soon as they act a little silly, or start to use their imagination, some one is there to discourage that train of thought. If children are not allowed to explore and expose their creative & imaginative self, who knows what the consequences may be. Take one minute and think about some of our worlds greatest inventors, and creators! If they were not encouraged or allowed to "Think out side the box", some of our most important and useful inventions may not have ever been created. Or world is in serious danger, and it's going to be left up to our children & theirs to try and fix it! We must help prepare them for the problematic world we will be passing over to them. Teaching them to be too refined and narrow minded will not benefit anybody!
