Short stories: The first day of a baby's life

Hello to you, I'm Caleb. I would like to tell you about my last day in Heaven.

Which has become my very first bedtime story. I'm not sure yet but I think this story is my

mommy's favorite one. So slide down onto your pillow and get your teddy bear under the

covers, and be very still, while I begin. Once upon a time, on a very happy day, all the angels on the nursery

wing of Heaven were all a buzz. They smiled and winked, as they looked my way. I wanted to know what was

going on, and what was about to happen.

Let me just say this about the angles charged to the nursery wing. They must be the sweetest creatures God

ever made. For this task he would only leave to his brightest and best. They are breath taking without a doubt.

They are both simple and magnificent. A glowing light resting upon their head. Wings of glory are layered behind.

Like, casecading falls of smoke and fog, trailing behind them as they walk. The true wings themselves are only

revealed when they are in flight. There are no tears in heaven because, their smiles erase all fears and warms the

human soul. Like a moth to a flame their smile draws you closer.

Now, my Papa Tyke had a special pass to be on the floor. Not just anyone can be on the nursery floor. Only

immediate family are welcome to visit. My papa walked over and took my hand. He said, "Your mommy and daddy

are picking out your name." Then he kissed me on my forehead. "You mean Caleb". I said. "But I already know my name".

My papa only smiled and said. "I want you to be a very big boy, because you are going on your first big trip, but before you

leave, we will take one last stroll by the Crystal Sea."

On our way there we walked through a field of daisies. They were in an extra good mood and after they finished singing

they called out my name. Did you know the flowers in Heaven could sing? "Good day to you Caleb." They cried. "Good day to

you all." I replied.

We sat down on our favorite swing and watched the stars twinkle about. My Angel Micah came around the corner with a shout!

"I've been looking for you". He said. "I've packed all your things and it's time to be gathered up on Angel's Wings."

Though I could see he was still speaking, and I felt him take me by the hand, his voice I could not hear. Then I heard my

mommy say, "Daddy look our Caleb's here."

How I wanted to play and tell them of the fun I had this very day, but I felt my eyes getting

heavy and sleep would hold off my story till another day.
