Increase My Faith
One night in prayer down on my knees,
I cried to God from my heart and soul.
"Teach me Lord the things I need"
A greater faith, it seemed my goal.
"Lord, I need to trust you more,
in every single thing I do.
So please dear Lord, if you don't mind,
Teach me to depend on you".
A few days passed, I began to doubt
as my daily routine seemed the same.
But then one morning my foundation shook
and my whole life began to change.
"Lord" I cried, "what's going on"?
Increase my faith, a simple task.
I did not understand just then,
He was simply doing as I had asked.
My husband called me from the job,
"An accident" was all he said.
His foot was crushed to some degree,
doctor's orders: stay in bed.
Behind closed doors I cried and prayed
"Dear Lord, what are we to do?
I wanted more faith, but not this way,
show me how to trust in you".
Now I see that was just the beginning
of a lesson learned and gently taught.
Of grace unending and faith unwaivering,
A lesson I earnestly fought.
Looking back, today I smile,
As I remember how I cried and prayed.
At the way the Lord provided then
for all our needs day by day.
During that time there is so much more.
I could tell you of pain and sorrow.
The job that fell through, the ceiling that leaked,
when it seemed there would be no tomorrow.
But now it's a precious and cherished dream,
while God was teaching me to trust.
We never lacked one single thing,
while He was proving faith to us.

If I told you I couldn't catch my breath,
Would you breathe for me,
Or would that be too complicated?
