If time is an issue that stands in the way of you getting to the gym for a good workout, there are several things you can do to compensate.
- If it's possible, try running your errands on foot or bicycle, rather than taking your car. You won't have the worry of having to find a parking spot either!
- Park your car further from the door at work, the shopping mall, the grocery store, etc.
- Ride your bike or walk to work if you live within range.
- Take the stairs instead of waiting for an elevator.
- Go for a brisk walk on your lunch hour. This is good for clearing your mind as well, and will do wonders for you when you're having a bad day at work.
- While working, do a little flexing or leg lifts under your desk.
- While talking on the phone, have a small hand weight or grab somethng with a little weight to it - a can of soup, a paperweight, etc. - and do some bicep curls.
- While watching your favorite tv show, do some leg lifts or sit ups, and during commercials, get up and run on the spot or do some jumping jacks.
- Take your dog for a brisk walk.
- Chase your children around during play time.
Try to be as active as you can during idle times. Even at the grocery store or the bank when you're stuck in line waiting, you can exercise by doing body flexes.
