be working at home."
Adele went upstairs after eating, and hurried to get the "ingredients" that she had collected the day before. She felt excited, though disappointed that her parents couldn't join her. But she was used to it. Not only did her parents hardly have time for her, she sometimes felt ignored when they had conversations among themselves. That's why she had always wanted a younger brother or sister. It would have been nice to have someone there.
After gathering all that she needed, she went to her room. She took out from her closet the thickest sweater she owned, and put it on. She knew it would be cold, and therefore, wise to dress accordingly. She put on her pink gloves, scarf, and a snow cap before rushing back downstairs.
"Make sure you don't get any snow in the house, honey," her mother warned. "I don't want anything melting on my carpet."
Adele ignored her, and put on her thick boots. She opened the front door and looked around. Tons and tons of snow covered the driveway, the lawn, and the bushes. There was snow on the trees and branches. It was very cold, despite her appropriate apparel. Here and there, bits and pieces of the snow fell off, but somehow, Adele's hopes were not dampened. She kept working on the snowman's head, and without her realisation, three hours had gone by.
"What are you doing?" a male voice called from behind her. Adele turned around, and saw a young boy. He was about her age, maybe a year older, but not younger. He had thick blond hair, and clear green eyes. A curious expression on his face, he walked toward her, staring at her unfinished work.
Adele bit her lip. She had never seen this boy before. Not in this neighbourhood, not in school. "Building a snowman," she replied casually. She groaned softly when a substantial amount of snow needed for the head fell off, forming fine snow that seemed to flow to the ground. She wiped her forehead with her gloved hand, even though there
