Angels are definitely among us which is apparent whether or not you believe the Holy Bible, Quran or Torah. Medical science cannot explain extraordinary strength and vision given to those who experience trama and peril. Many times even children who would have no reason to lie or exaggerate have told search and rescue workers that an "angel" helped them through a traumatic experience. I have heard of people asleep during a fire awakened by a voice in their sleep or by the family pet alerting them to danger. The detailed description of most of the angels and their work can be found in extra Biblical literature, in particular the Book of Enoch which is cited in our familiar Book of Jude, but which is not included in the traditional canon. Angels appeared to Abraham, Hagar, Lot, Jacob, Moses, David and many others in the Old Testament. In the New Testament they appeared to Zachariah, Mary, Joseph, the shepherds in the field, Mary Magdalene, Peter, Philip, Cornelius, Paul and will be around during the end times according to John's Book of Revelation. They were seen by Jesus Christ in Luke 10:18.
One of the most common angels known to literature is Hermes. He is referred to
