Poetry: Christmas alphabet

by Verity Markham

Created on: December 07, 2008

This Christmas Time

Angel smiling from the top of the tree

Baubles shimmering for all to see

Carols sang loud from all around

Deck the halls, what a wonderful sound!

Excited faces of children's delight

Festive feasts melting appetites

Gifts sent with peace and goodwill

Hanging up stockings for santa to fill

Icicles forming on the branches outside

Joy and laughter fills christmas tides

Knitted jumpers to protect from the cold

Lights on the tree shining bright and bold

Mistletoe used for a christmas kiss

Nativity plays parents just cant miss

Opening presents on christmas day

Pantomime trips to watch the play

Queens speech made for the nation to hear

Rudolph the reindeer will soon appear

Santa bringing gifts on his magical sleigh

Turkey and tidings on christmas day

Under the tree are where the presents are found

Very excited children know that Santa's been round

Wellies are out to play in the snow

Xmas will be here, not long to go!

Yuletide wishes given with festive cheer

Zest at this magical time of year
