Modern and later game consoles are getting better than ever. Playstation3 took a huge leap in gaming by having a "supercomputer" cell processor (Cell Broadband Engine) built in it. Xbox 360 redefines online gaming and online communities. The Nintendo Wii redefines the genre of family gaming. If these consoles offer multimedia capabilities that PCs used to be the only ones to be able to do, what will the 8th generation bring? PlayStation 3 is now considered a computer because of it's vast capabilities in calculating vast operations that will make Intel and AMD processors explode from complex calculations. Before I examine the PS3, here are the specs of the PlayStation 3:

Notice that it has some pretty decent specs for a device based on gaming. If you have never owned the PlayStation 3, you may as well buy because this device saves you $2000 worth of electronics. The thing is, the PlayStation 3 is like an everything entertaining coming in a small package. Blu-ray (which is now $200) comes with a PS3 built in. You can store your pictures in HD and of course HD gaming. Listening to music on your PS3 has never been so fun. PS3 has the hardware to give you the latest High Def in sound. It gives sound quality that of a $6,000 Bose system. There simply too many things built in for this wonderful scientific and gaming device, that you have to discover for yourself when you buy it. Online play is free and simple to set up and of course you can use the PlayStation Eye camera for interaction with others. The picture quality is smooth running at 120 frames per second! you can buy it at the PlayStation website. Xbox 360 is also another console to consider. Xbox 360 may not be as powerful as its rival but it is very highly entertaining. Here are the specs:Three symmetrical cores running at 3.2 GHz each
Two hardware threads per core; six hardware threads total
VMX-128 vector unit per core; three total
128 VMX-128 registers per hardware thread
1 MB L2 cache
