Whoever posed this question needs to ask if they are relevant in today's world. No matter what your personal beliefs are when it comes to subect's of spirituality, God is relevant in today's world. This is such a simple question to answer, that I wonder why it was posed.

Much of the animosity exhibited in the world today between countries and different segments of populations with countries is motivated by religion, which supports a belief in god. I personally do not care if you chose to worship Allah,Yahweh, Buddha, Thor or Zeus; however to deny that whatever 'God' is popular at any particular point in earth's recorded history hasrelevanceis extremely shortsighted. Catholic Priests in America molested children after having a supposed power bestowed upon them by their church that was created to promote their god. A christian god that many in Western Civilization consider to be almighty. President Bush said he consulted God with regards to invading Irag, president elect Obama has also stated that he will consult God at times during his upcoming presidency. That alone should prove therelevance of God in today's world.

Another prime example (sorry to be ethnocentric but I am an American) is the junk science that people who claim to spread God's world want taught to America's children in place of evolutionary theory. They file lawsuits in public courts and petition school boards to change state standards. A large segment of the American population believe that America was founded to be a Christian nation and that we should be a christian republic. If god can cause the masses to becomeilliterate when they read America's founding documents, then to argue the relevance of this 'power' is actually quite useless. Maybe a new debate should ask, "Would the world be better without beliefs in god?" or better yet, "How many lives could have been saved had Abraham not climbed a mountain to offer his son as a sacrifice to the voices he heard in his head?"

In fact I do not know which responses to this ridiculous question are worse, the yes side or the no side. The yes side as most seem to believe in a super natural intervening type of creator who listens to millions of people as they whisper to him simultaneously or the no who seem to not recognize the fact that religion and thus 'god' isrelevantin today's world. To deny therelevanceof god would be to deny the relevance of propaganda in today's world, simply because it is an idea created by humans who lacked the ability to understand that they are in fact animals.

I would like to restate that this question is horrid and needs to be deleted, as it asks a question to which the answer is plainly available.
