The New Children's Museum

Hands on. Closed Wednesdays. Museum always closes at 4:00 pm. This is great for younger kids. If you have a teen that really likes art, the Museum offers a Teen Studio where teens have an opportunity to express themselves with art. There are many craft and sculpture supplies for teens to choose from when making their piece of art.




San Diego Sheriff's Museum and Educational Center

This museum is the history of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. The museum focuses on the education of children about careers in law enforcement and the awareness of social dangers. Housed in the museum are artifacts, memorabilia, and photographs from the beginning of the Sheriff's beginning in 1850.

The Science Center offers seven exhibit galleries where hands on is encouraged. The Science Center also offers an IMAX theatre. The cost, times, and shows are available on the website. North Star Science Store inside. The store offers many gifts and toys and astronaut food. Astronaut Ice Cream is sure to be a hit with kids of all ages. There is no caf or food inside the Science Center but Galileo's Caf is right outside and offers a bite to eat. Third Saturday of month is Family Day from 12-3.



San Diego Model Railroad Museum

Museum is 27,000 sq. ft., and is the largest indoor model railroad display in the world. There are six separate exhibits. Four of the exhibits are scale model trains that are replicas of actual railroads in the area. The museum offers the Toy Train Gallery. This exhibit features buttons that children can push to operate the coal trains. Closed Mondays.
