Dogs have been around forever. They are as the title of this article states man's best friend. Over the years I have had a ton of dogs. They were all special to me in their own unique way. Now I have a Boston Terrier. I am a huge dog lover and I do believe that a dog is man's best friend.

Dogs are called man's best friends for many reasons. I will share some of these reasons with you now.

One of the reasons dogs are man's best friend is because they are great companions. Your dog will follow you just about anywhere and be happy. They like to ride with you and keep you company. It does not take much for your four legged friend to be a great companion to you. A little love and compassion, food, water, and a warm place to sleep and they are set. You can also tell your dog your darkest secrets and they will listen to you without passing judgement.

Dogs are very protective. This also makes them great friends. They guard your house for you while you are gone. And, they will protect their owners at all costs, well at least most of the time they do. My dog is very protective of my three year old daughter. She does not like strangers around my daughter at all, and she lets them know they are being watched. She never lets my baby out of her sight. She is also very protective of my husband and me to. We are very greatful to her.

Most dogs take loyalty to an extreme. They will be by your side no matter what. Even when you discipline them, they always come back to you. They will forgive you. Dogs usually take to a single person, at least from my personal experience they do. They stick to this person like glue. They are telling you, this is my human and I will walk to the ends of the earth with them.

In my opinion dogs are called man's best friend because they offer you unconditional love and affection. All they want in return is for you to love them back. They really don't want much just a pat on the head, a good belly rub, and a good treat every now and then. This lets them know that you love them also, although my dog is a little pampered so she gets way more than these things, you should see her Christmas stocking.

In closing, I believe the reason dogs are men's best friend are as follows; companionship, protection, loyalty, and unconditional love. There are more reasons than these I'm sure. Love your dog and they will love you back. Here is hoping that you and your dog live a long and happy life together.
