- Amy Winehouse - Artist Profile -
Singer Amy Winehouse cuts a delicate and fragile figure. Her large beehive detracting away from her diminutive frame. Unsteady, dazed and out of it, she is barely able to give a performance these days. It's a long cry from her early years at Stage school. As an ambitious teenager, with her sights firmly fixed on stardom, she said all she wanted to do, with the power of her voice, was to make people forget their troubles for a short while. The strength and tone of the remarkable voice of Amy Winehouse was making its mark in the world of music at an early age and Amy was quickly snapped up by Island records at the age of 15 and signed up deal. She was reminiscent of Billie Holliday to listen to and she also had that relaxed and easy style of singing which was compelling to hear.
Amy moved up to Camden, London to mix with the other rock and pop singers there. Camden was a musical hub of activity and Amy would sing at the local pubs to gain experience.
These days, the harsh reality of Amy Winehouse, is that she is suffering from emphysema, a dangerous condition of the lungs. She is a self confessed crack addict, amongst the many other drugs she dabbles recreationally in. Amy is Heavy drinker and doomed to a path of pure
