Things to do in Las Vegas with children

Have you always wanted to vacation in Las Vegas, but you never got to because you have children?

Well, now you have no excuse to book that vacation getaway. Yes, Las Vegas is known as a gambling city but there are also tons of attractions to take your family to that are children friendly. Many of the hotels themselves offer fun things for children but there are also many other places in close range that provide fun and adventure.

To start your vacation off right for the children take a look at what the local hotels on the strip have to offer. Here are just a few choices out of many.

New York New York: At New York New York children have the time of their life with The Roller Coaster at New York New York. This roller coaster is located on the second floor of New York New York at the south end of the strip. This coaster is 4,777 feet long and its biggest drop is 144 feet! What's not to love about that, it has high speed dives and two inversions, for the daredevils out there. But remember this ride is open seven days a week but you must be 54 inches tall to ride.

Circus Circus: Check out the Adventuredome which is filled with action and thrills for the whole family young and old. The Adventuredome holds tons of rides like the Canyon Blaster, Chaos, and Disk-O, and many, many more.

These are just a few of the many attractions hotel in Las Vegas have to offer. But if you aren't up for games there are still many things your children will enjoy.

Las Vegas Zoo: If your children love animals make sure to check out this wonderful attraction. The Las Vegas Zoo features over 150 species of plants and animals. Yes, it may be a little small but what child doesn't love a zoo. Plus a brand new attraction you should check out is the Otter Exhibit. It's a 2,700 gallon exhibit and features an area where you can observe the underwater behavior. They also have a petting zoo for the smaller children.

Hoover Dam: If you are a true tourist and want to see the Hoover Dam up close and personal, take a trip over Boulder City and take a tour of this beautiful attraction. You can tour at your own individual pace and whenever you choose. You can also get to view the Nevada wing of its power generators. For this you descend 500 feet by elevator into the Black Canyon.

Lake Mead: If you're a boat lover this is just the destination for you. Lake Mead is the 16th largest man-made lake in world. It occupies 1.5 million acres and has about 820 miles of shoreline. It offers year round recreation with everything with boating to swimming or even hiking or wildlife viewing. Black Canyon surrounds this huge lake along with red sandstone and black lava rock. The facilities include eight campgrounds, five motels, five marinas, Jet Ski and boat rentals, restaurants, seven RV campgrounds with hookups, and much more.

But however, this is nowhere near the end of it. So forget all the talk about Las Vegas being "Sin City". Think of it as being the next vacation getaway for you and the family with tons of attractions the kids will love.
