PROMISE MY SIDE!
(Dedicated to Lisa)
I know that I promised you nothing and expected the same in return.
If I was the man that you wanted there were a few tricks I just hadn't learned.
You see that I could read by candles, you dined 'neath glass chandeliers.
I know I reflected too much on the past, you just saw yourself in mirrors.
But you were my first steps on heaven, I can reveal that for fact.
I've always been told when you're 18 years old that opposites attract.
And if I started all over again, I guess it'd be with you.
We split into 30 directions, but count us and you will find two!
I could never follow your lifestyle, but if you'd slow down you could find mine
yet things they always worked out right, when we'd kiss late at night
It keeps us in line, oh yeah
It keeps us in line, oh yeah!
It keeps us in line!
