I may not the best one to ask, if you're looking for an objective assessment of Barack Obama. I have the same love for him that I once had Jack and Robert Kennedy, the same support that I gave to Martin Luther King. My expectations for President-elect Obama are high but my desire to work with him, as a citizen, is even higher. I think he will get more done simply because there is an army of people who feel exactly the same way I do about this man. You may think I've gone too far when I tell you that I would take a bullet for Obama, but the world seems to be too willing to hurt him, and I will not allow this man slip quietly away into history. In the 1960s we saw one great man after the other shot and killed. Our dreams and hopes for the future were completely destroyed. Since that time detractors have nearly destroyed the Kennedys' reputation but I was there and I know how they inspired nearly everyone to contribute their time and labor to make America a better place. Kennedy and Roosevelt were as inspirational as Obama is. Our institutions are lining up for financial help to be either bought out or bailed out. The stock market has lost 50% of its value this year (by 1933 it lost 80% of its value). Unemployment is expected to reach into the double digits before this is over (during the Great Depression unemployment reached 25%). There exists even greater threats to mankind's survival due to the changes we appear to be making to our environment.
We're fighting guerrilla wars (financed by the Chinese for billions of dollars)in two countries and, by the very fact that we are calling them guerrilla wars indicates that we are not winning either. Yet the threat of terrorism looms as large as ever! Will we have to lose a city to terrorists before we mobilize as we did in World War II? Russia is back and is once again presenting military challenges in neighboring countries, Iran is dominating the Middle East and is still arming. They remain a wildcard in disrupting oil supplies. The US dollar has lost its standing in the world. While the Chinese have their
