Sarah Palin should be a poster person for the dumbed-down school system in the United States. When I first heard her I asked myself, "is this what we're going to get in the future from our politicians"? She not only doesn't have a clue concerning what's happening in the world today, she doesn't even seem to know where it's happening. She backs up her ignorance with poor English, and then only if she's properly coached. Off-the-cuff remarks are a minefield to her.
In her cliche-ridden responses, she sounds more like a valley girl than a governor and the fact that many Republicans have embraced her leads me to believe they didn't learn a thing from our horrible experience with George W. Bush. Let's be honest - "W" is dumb and Sarah Palin is dumber! At least, with Barach Obama, the English language will be preserved for at least one presidential term.
Palin's appeal seems to be largely with the right to life crowd coupled with the fact she has obtained a high degree of celebrity thanks to the incredibly poor judgement of John McCain. On the other hand, so has Brittany Spears and who wants her anywhere near our nation's capital? Yes, Sarah can communicate but so can a three year old child. She seems to be better when talking the party line, with a lot of coaching preceding it, then coming up with any degree of articulation when she speaks off the cuff. So, if you like to hear your parrot speak you will love Sarah.
People bring up her awful interview with Katie Courac as the first indication Sarah had a lot of trouble following any logical train of thought. Her supporters gave her a pass on that one because she was relatively new and nervous. On the other hand the lady is a governor and must have had to give a few speeches when she was running for office. Granted, the speeches were mostly one-dimensional but one might think she would have picked up a certain grace and rhythm when addressing a subject but not our Sarah. She still sounds, and sometimes looks, like a Barbie doll on steroids.
Perhaps Sarah Palin's communication skills, limited as they are, is what our future voters, most of whom came out of the same dysfunctional school system she did, really need. It seems if you sprinkle a few "you know's" and "likes" into every sentence these people seem to understand what you're talking about, you know? And don't forget to add a few "awesome's" into the mix. It is to be fervently wished that, after listening to an articulate Barach Obama for four years, Sarah will finally get a clue as to how much she's outclassed and decide to return to her moose hunting in Alaska. On the other hand, if the Republican party continues to embrace her as one of their major spokespersons, they had better resign themselves to the back bench for a long time. The world can only hope so.
