The Blizzard: Movie Extract
Bob and Lisa are sitting in their pick-up tuck. The snow is heavy, and they are stranded in the middle of a country road. Bob tries to open the door of the truck.
Bob: It just won't budge Lisa, how are we going to get out of here?
Lisa: We must have been here for about an hour now. Are we going to be stranded here for hours. Bob, I'm getting scared.
Bob: Don't panic, Lisa, just try to keep calm. We have some supplies in the back of the truck. If only I could get out, we could at least get some water and food.
Lisa: The snow is getting worse, it's a blizzard. What can we do? We need to get out of here!
Lisa tries to open the truck door, but the snow has built up, and she can't move the door.
Bob: Maybe someone will come along soon and help us.
Lisa: We're going to freeze to death, we need help, fast.
The noise of an engine is heard in the distance. Bob and Lisa looked surprised, and then happy at the thought of being saved.
Bob: Here comes a car, someone is coming.
Lisa: Yes Bob, we're going to get saved. Someone is coming to rescue us.
The noise of the engine gets lower, the vehicle is heard going off into the distance.
Lisa: No! Come back, please help us.
Bob: It's OK, we're going to get out of here.
Bob struggles to open the truck door again, he pushes the door hard, at first it doesn't open, but he continues to push.
Bob: It's open! I got the door open, we're going to be all right.
Bob squeezes his body out of the small gap he's made. He goes to the back of the truck, grabs a shovel, and digs in the back of the truck until he reaches a plastic cooler where they have food and water. Meanwhile, lisa is getting out of the driver side door.
Lisa: Now what?
Bob: We'll have to start walking, there is a small cabin a few miles from here. We can stay the night there, until we get someone to fix the truck.
Lisa: Walk? It's a blizzard out here, we'll be frozen to death before we get there.
Bob: We don't have any other choice.
Lisa and Bob started to walk thought the blizzard. The wind was getting stronger, the snow was becoming heavier. They had walked for a couple of miles, they were feeling exhausted, they didn't even hear the engine approaching. A tow truck stops beside them, an old bearded man gets out.
Old Man: Hey, I can give you a ride up to the cabin.
Lisa: Oh, thank God!
Lisa and Bob follow the old man into his truck. He drives them to the cabin a couple of miles up the road.
Bob: It was nice of the owner to let us stay here tonight.
Bob and Lisa are sitting on the couch by an open fire, drinking hot chocolate. A loud noise is heard from the next room.
Lisa: What was that?
Bob: I don't know. Let's go and see.
They creeped into the next room. There was banging coming from the closet in the bedroom. They opened the closet door, nothing was there, except a few cobwebs. The noise came from behind them now. Bang, bang, bang. They look behind them. A ghostly figure floats by the open bedroom door. They stand with mouths open, looking at each other, and towards the door.
Lisa: This place is haunted.
Bob: It seems that way. Maybe we are just imagining things, it's been a long day.
Lisa: Whether it's haunted, or not I'd rather stay here than face the blizzard.
Bob: Me too.
Bob takes lisa by the hand into the bedroom. They lay on the bed hugging. The banging starts again. They both shrug their shoulders, and keep hugging.
