Merry Christmas? I hope so. Everyone is worried about the economy and many of us are feeling it in our pockets. We all would like to give Christmas presents this year but who has the money to buy for everyone? Well here are a few ideas that will help get you out of this rut.
As a child I can remember making cinnamon rolls with my grandmother every year at Christmas. She gave these as presents to people like our pastor, family that is not immediate and a few others that just loved them. So maybe you don't have the time or the ability to make cinnamon rolls from scratch that take about 4-6 hours but there is still hope. You can always make cookies, candies or anything like this. People will love the homemade taste and it is so much cheaper than buying presents for everyone.
So your not a baker? How about a craft you are good at. I personally am crocheting a few present this year and even sewing a couple outfits. This makes the present much cheaper and I am spending more that half the price of going to the store and buying a nice outfit for the kids. If you can't crochet or sew try something else you are good at. Maybe you can paint so make people a thing with their family name on it that says welcome or some inspirational saying to put outside their door. If it is a child make them a door hanger for their bedroom door. Crafts are another personal touch people will love and again is not too expensive.
O.k. I know who has the time, energy or experience in making baked goods or crafts? You would much rather go to the store or shop on-line without spending a bundle. I have been looking on auction sites and have gotten a few presents in great condition that costs around a third of what I would pay in a store. The other plus to this is that it is dropped off right at my doorstep. You can't get any easier than that.
You can also set up a date. Take a child to the movies, or an arcade. It is very possible to spend less and get some quality time with them that they will love never forget.
Don't forget coupons and the dollar store! You can't believe what you could save on by doing this. I have found really nice things at a dollar store. Coupons are great because you can get what you want and still save big.
So the biggest key is don't stress. People too often forget to enjoy Christmas because they are too busy trying to find the perfect gift. Just relax and have a very merry Christmas!
