Make your own prom dress

To make your prom an even more memorable experience, make your own prom dress. There are several reasons why making your own prom dress may be better than buying something pre-made. Buying a new dress can be fun, but many other girls in your area may end up wearing the same thing since you'll all be choosing from among a limited number of stores. You're also restricted to the styles and colors available at the time you go shopping. Buying a prom dress is definitely not the way to go if you want your appearance to be a personal statement.

You have a better chance to have a really unique prom dress by searching through the various patterns available either online or at your local fabric shop. You might also try to find a "vintage" pattern that would suit your taste better than the more modern styles available. Making your own prom dress will also allow you to choose a style and color combination that will best suit you. You can choose from a wide array of fabrics, from velvet to taffeta to tulle, in most of the colors of the rainbow. Plus, most patterns have several variations from which to choose: short or long skirt, short or long sleeve, high or low neckline, etc.
One of the most important reasons to make your own prom dress is that you may save money in the long run. Purchasing a pre-made dress may cost several hundred dollars whereas most dress patterns can be purchased for less than twenty dollars. Plus, you can often find the fabric you may need at a greatly reduced price if you shop carefully. In the long run, you can make a beautiful prom dress that you love for well under a hundred dollars. This will leave you with more money to spend on accessories like shoes and jewelry, new makeup, and maybe even an exciting new hairstyle.
You can probably come up with good reasons other than the ones mentioned here as to why you should make your own prom dress. Consider all your options before going out to buy something pre-made and you may just find yourself wearing a stunning new creation of your own on one of the biggest nights of your life. You'll find that the time and effort you put in to be more worthwhile than the expense of buying something pre-made.
