Is prom moving in and you have nothing new to wear? Do you want to have a look that's all your own? Then why not make your own dress!

By making and designing your own prom dress, you will surely be the most unique individual at the dance. Here are some helpful tips for patterns, color, style, and length!

Patterns. Do you want a short or long dress? sleeves or no sleeves? This will mainly depend upon your height and body type. For someone who may have a long, lean figure, then a long and elegant gown may be for you. Strapless is very common and adding some unique touches to the back such as lacing straps that you may find on a corset, the gown will definitely be an orginal!

Color. Think about the season. Think about your skin tone. The brighter colors such as oranges and bright pinks tend to be more for lighter skin tone individuals. If you have a darker complection, more earthy and darker colors will suit you best.

Style. Keep it simple! Big dresses with lots of poof are not always the way to go. They may require more management and can become tangled. Keeping your dress sleek with be much easier to handle. Also think about the type of dress you want. Are you into vintage or the current fashion trends?

Lengths. Think about your height. If you are not very tall, then you will not want a dress that will be too long. It may drag on the floor and under your feet. Shorter dressed may suit you best. Having long legs is great but not with short dresses. This is a no no! If the dress comes up too high and reveals parts of you that you do not wish others to see, then that dress is not a good choice. Be smart! Exposing yourself is not always a good thing.

There you have it! Tips for that wonderful prom dress! Color, pattern, style and length are everything! With these helpful tips, you and your dress will be the most unique at that prom!
