A Review of Crayola- Kids First Markers...

On a recent shopping trip to our new local store of Tesco Extra I just couldn't hep walking down the kids aisle to see what they had on offer as I found these brilliant pens.

I cost me around the 2.50 pence price for these eight different coloured pens from the popular brand Crayola. They are designed for children over the age of 12 months and so far, these are the best pens that I have seen that are suitable for this age range. The eight separate colours are blue, purple, brown, orange, yellow, green, red and black. It states on the packet that the pen rinses off without soap and that they have a secure nib.

Both of the above statements are true and I was pretty surprised how easy the pen actually washed off Jacks hands (and the slash of blue pen across his face came off well too!) On clothes, it took a proper wash in the machine to completely rid the pens mark but you could get the majority out with a damp sponge and a bit of soap and water.

The nibs on these pens are probably what makes them more different that any other pens I have seen and most probably, why they are suitable for children of 12 months and over. The nib on each one is more like a small dome shape of sponge at the tip, rather than the longer nib I am used to seeing on Crayola marker pens. On the back of the packet it says that they call this type of nib a gumball nib and it allows strokes at any angle. At first, I thought that this would make it difficult to draw with because even though they had said it could draw at any angle could it really. Nevertheless, it seemed this statement was also true.

Well of course, at the moment Jack is only scribbling and holding the pen in what appears to be a rather awkward angle. These facts however did not seem to make it any more difficult for the pen to issue the ink out. Each time he had a go of scribbling the ink would come out pretty well.

The colours of the pens are very good and strong even though they are so washable. All in all I think the price was pretty reasonable for such a high quality product as Crayola have created here. Jack really enjoys using them and at the moment its all he seems to want to play with so I would say they are a purchase well bought. Crayola are a good brand and have done well with these First markers 10/10. A HIGHLY RECOMENDED PRODUCT well worth the price paid and an ideal gift for Christmas or even a birthday.

I hope this has been of some help to you.
