Sex becomes the opium which makes a couple feel bonded and attached, but this bonding was not properly developed.

Let us assume that you're having a first date with someone you know and not a complete stranger (even though blind dates are a reality). Even if you know a person for years, it's difficult to know their sexual history and impossible to objectively say that they are free from STDs. In the event that you use protection, a few unexpected situations could still arise from your first-date rendezvous.

There are few, if any, good reasons to have sex on the first date. You may be compelled by lust, but it would be better if you practise delayed gratification. Trust me; you appreciate things a lot more when you wait. Sex is more than just a pleasurable experience when you have trust, love and confidence in your relationship. What's the likelihood of having that on a first-date? Sex without the security of a relationship is reduced to a romp in the sack.

Some people have great sexual chemistry without working at it. However, a good sexual relationship involves some discovery. After first-date sex, the discovery is immediate and forgotten soon after. It wouldn't be about getting to know the sexual dimension of your partner so much, but merely repeating the pleasure.

So, having sex on the first date? It's not so much about yes or no, but please think about it! Erring on the side of caution and thinking "no" wouldn't harm the dating game either. You may have something to look forward to on your next date.
