A few tips on being funny

Becoming that guy that every one wants to be around is actually not all that hard. Even if your a somewhat shy and reserved person. All you need to do is remember some key factors.

1)Be Cool - Try to relax. Don't put a lot of pressure on yourself. Remember your goal here is to seem easygoing.

2)Patience - This is so important if you want to take your humour go to the next level. If your impatient, you will end up saying something at a time when its not funny. Wait for the prime opportunity when everyone's interest is at the peak.

3)Be Original - There are a lot of funny people in the world and its quite easy to steal one of their lines and use it as your own. Although you can make people laugh this way, its not a good idea. People who have heard it before wont find it as entertaining as those who haven't heard it. My advice is if you are going to use someone else's line, use it in that person's intonation.

4)Be Careful - If your in a new group of people that you don't know, take it slow. This group of people is going to be your audience, so make sure you listen to what they say. What they talk about should give you an indication of what they are interested in. You can use this to your advantage by telling jokes or stories that are related to those topics.

5)Bombing - Messing up will happen. Even the best comics can tell a lame joke or say something that nobody understands. Don't let it get you down. Sometimes you can take a lame joke and turn it into a hilarious outcome. One good way to help your situation is, if you bomb a joke, tell everyone "ya that was pretty bad. It would have been a lot funnier if I had said it in Chinese." This can usually get a laugh and it will redeem you. When all else fails just shrug it off and laugh at yourself.

6)Get a Reputation - People will be more ready to laugh at you if they know your funny. When you get to be known as a funny person you wont even have to do hardly anything to make people laugh. People will always want to be in your company and they will be hanging off your every word.

Final Tips:

Be energetic and eccentric when telling a joke, it'll make your joke more lively and exciting.

Smiling is addictive, so if you smile, it will encourage others to laugh.

When telling a joke never laugh before the punch line

Be short and sweet, this way your audience wont become bored.

If you follow these steps and really devote your time, you will be on the path to becoming the ultimate comedian.
