If you are not going to a stylist because of what the last did. Then don't go to the last one. A lot of stylist will sit you in their chair and do what they want to do to your hair and not consult you. Be aware of what others look like when they come out of that particular salon. If they all look the same and you don't want that haircut RUN FAST! One thing people need to understand is that stylists don't know what you want if you don't tell them. They are not mind readers.
Yet if you tell them "I want that" and point at a particular hairstyle then nine times out of ten they can come pretty close.
Main points for going to a new stylist:
1. take a picture (It really does help)
2. Make sure you tell them what you want (i.e. "I really like this picture but it is a little to short for me I would like it to fall around my shoulders.")
3. If anything in the environment of the salon or they them selves seems off leave. Or if you are having a particular problem with a stylist tell the manager.
4. If you don't like what you get tell them. Or if you tell them "I want it long and flowing down my back." and they wack it up to your ears, talk to the manager and DON'T pay for all of it, if any.
5. The stylist is in business to make YOU happy, not for you to make them happy. Don't be afraid to tell them that you don't want something and don't let them talk you into anything!
