Winter wedding theme ideas

Created on: December 04, 2008

Cold, messy, and the winter blues all associated with the season of Winter. Sounds like a bad time to do things. Well, its not. It is a beautiful time of the year. It is a time to make memories, play in the snow, have some fun. What more fun than a wedding?

If you choose to have a winter time wedding, you will want to make sure to listen to your forecast ahead of time. You do not want an unexpected major storm to sweep in and mess up your day.

Some great ideas for a winter time wedding is to use what is in season to decorate. Such as logs with flowers, pointsettias, the beautiful light selections, wreaths, topiary trees, christmas trees. These are all great accessories that you can use to decorate the church or location you have chosen to have your wedding ceremony.

Some other ideas would be a place that has a sleigh set up outside for a nice wedding party picture, or a gazebo with a christmas tree set up would make a beautiful backdrop.

Another cool thing depending on the time of the wedding, as well as whether or not children are allowed to attend you could also have a visit there from Santa and Mrs. Clause makes for a fun event for the children as well as a great memory for them saying they went to the coolest wedding ever. You will be the most talked about couple for a long time.

For the wedding party I think a great accessory to use for the girls in the bridal party would be a nice white muff for their hands but the flowers would lay nicely ontop of the muff so pretty so elegant and a wonderful keepsake. For the men nothing wrong with a pointsettia with babies breath and a added touch of stefanotis for good luck.

For your guest I think a cool wedding day keepsake would be a snowglobe with a picture of the bride and groom in it. It is after all and the snowglobe captures that. There are so many ideas that would work for a winter themed wedding. Just be creative and have fun.

Just remember when picking out your location for the ceremony, you will want it to be a place that has a plow service, that is well sanded, is handicapped accessible. All important things for your guest especially if there is any snow on the ground. A tricky time of the year you don't need any injuries on your important day. Or you could see about hiring a valet service to make it more accomodating for the guest in general.

There are so many options for a Winter wedding. Just because the blues have set in for many doesn't mean it has to set in for your wedding. What a great time to bring life back to everyone as well as some fun. You have so many options for music from classic Christmas tunes, to some Kenny G, to everyday listening music. So let the good times roll and enjoy the happy day.
