An urgent need for reason, dialogue and compromise

Life is not a Television Show

Let us turn off the distraction of television, close our eyes, allow our minds to wander, and momentarily hypothesize that civilization does not have an urgent need for reason, dialogue, or compromise.
While in that somewhat rare delusional and utopian moment, let us then peaceably ask ourselves if we are always happy, if our relationships are everlasting, and whether society is functioning reasonably.
