How to take care of your hair

Glorious locks - this is one of the beauty gauge we like having. Our hair does speaks volume, literally speaking. It reflects the good genes a person has and how one takes proper care on it. Healthy hair also translates to good grooming.

First of all, to know how to take care of one's hair, know what your hair type is. It would all depend on whether you have oily hair, thin or thick strands. If you have curly, wavy, or straight hair, proper maintenance for each type can be given. Typically, a short hairstyle would be easier to keep compared to long ones. Nevertheless, general care is given for one's hair.

Hair Wash. Aside from having either oily or dry hair, where you are geographically living would also count as a factor. If it is during the winter or summer season, using conditioner or anti-freeze would soften your hair better. Determine what works best for your hair. For some people, going on a day or two without washing looks good for them. For others, daily shampooing is needed, especially when humidity sets in as the perspiration can build up with the daily dirt. If your hair is oily, conditioning it regularly won't be necessary as this may also lead to pimple breakout on your face. A rule to keep in mind: What you put on your hair, also falls down at your face as you wash it.

Combing or Brushing. An ideal way after washing is to first towel pat and then air dry your hair. Too much blow drying can damage it. No matter what ads say regarding ions of a hair blower and that it won't damage it, whatever is done in excess has repercussions in the end. Do things in moderation. When you are going out or reporting for work and you had just taken a shower, it is unavoidable but to comb your hair. Yes, combing would be a better option for wet hair than using hair brush. More tangles and split ends can come out from using a brush when the hair is wet. At least with a comb, the direction is straighter. Hair brush is better for styling.

Protection. When going out in the sun and the heat is severe, put on a simple cap or a fashion-looking hat. If not, you can opt to using an umbrella. During the winter season, having a head gear on is advisable.

Hair parting. To minimize having a bald spot on where you do your parting side of your hair, change it every now and then. If you have gotten used to parting your hair at the right side, you would notice that over the years of doing that, you can see a slight bald spot in that area. Try it on the other side, part it from the left side. If you always part your hair in the middle, have a variety and style it from the left or right. This changing of where you part your hair can balance it out. Hair will grow evenly and you don't have to be conscious of having a spot so evident on it. You'll be happy also that you're doing this because it gives you a new look too.

Accessories. When using hair accessories, bear in mind that your strands are fragile. Use elastic pony tail. Give your hair time to breathe. Like if you put your hair up on a ponytail, do it on alternate days or if it is really unavoidable, when you get home, let your hair down.

Trimming. Regularly having a haircut is good to minimize having split ends. How regular you cut your hair depends on an individual's hair growth. You can go from a couple of weeks to a few months. While you're at it, look up different hair styles and go for a makeover at your favorite salon whenever you like to. Feeling good about your hair shows on it.

Love your hair. Give it proper care.
