Plants that look after themselves

Plants are wonderful assets to any household. Plants that look after themselves are especially beneficial for busy households. Finding easy to maintain household plants requires some investigation. Here are a few suggestions to consider.

1. Ivy plants are very independent plants. Simply place the ivy plant into a decorative pot and water it occasionally. This plant needs very little sunlight to grow. No need for any special fertilizer or plant food. Ivy plants grow long leafy branches that can be trimmed and shaped or left to hang naturally. No green thumb is required for this easy to maintain plant.

2. Philodendrons are plants that look after themselves quite well. Philodendrons grow quickly and require minimal care. Simply water these sturdy plants occasionally and that's it. No special care is required. These plants seem to almost thrive on neglect and require very little light to grown.

3. Bamboo plants are another easy to grow household plant. Stick the bamboo stalk into a pot of loose gravel and water it once a week. The bamboo stalks seem to grow daily. This plant has become increasingly popular over the past few years. They are sold in many large department stores.

4. Spider plants are popular household plants that need very little attention. Spider plants send out long, draping shoots with tiny spidery looking plants attached at the end. The Spider plants make lovely hanging plants. They require little maintenance besides watering periodically. This plant also requires minimal light to grow.

5. Aloe plants are wonderful houseplants. This thick armed plant serves a practical purpose as well. The juicy sap that comes from this succulent can be used as a topical treatment for minor burns. Aloe plants require little sunlight. Simply water once a week.

6. Sansevieria is a desert plant that takes care of itself. Tall and dramatic, Sansevierias are found quite often in waiting rooms and offices because they are so easy to maintain. They require minimal light and needs watering only occasionally.

7. Jade plants take care of themselves quite well. The Jade plant, a succulent, have round, shiny leaves with a thick skin. The Jade plant is sometimes called A Money Plant and is thought to bring good fortune to its owner. Jades have been a popular houseplant. This easy to grow plant makes even the novice plant grower look successful. Easy to maintain and lovely to see, this plant is a great asset to your home.
