There is something about controlling a Jedi that is unlike anything else. Up until this point the only reason this has been is because of the Jedi's preferred weapon of the choice the lightsaber. With LucasArts latest game, however, you can now get the full experience of being a Jedi due to The Force Unleashed's take on the force. The empire will bow before you, the rebels will shake in your presence, and the Jawa's corpses will tell everyone of your tale. Be ready, for you are Darth Vader's secret apprentice.
Seen through the eyes of Vader's unnamed apprentice, fans are finally able to see what events occurred between Episodes III and IV. What sparked the Rebels to unite against the Empire? Just how deep does Vader's loyalty to the Emperor run? How did Vader discover the leaders of the Rebels? Nearly all of these questions are answered, in at least some way, and provide another memorable tale in the lengthy Star Wars saga.
Considering all the trailers and videos out there, it would be easy to think that The Apprentice is a very stoic and one-dimensional character but this is surprisingly not so. Throughout the story The Apprentice shows a broad range of emotions rarely seen by a Sith before. Anger, sorrow, love, and confusion all fill the heart of the young protagonist as he battles for what he believes is right.
While the story may be through be told from The Apprentice's perspective, that doesn't always mean that you will only play as him. In the first mission of the game, the player is given control of the famous Sith Lord himself, Darth Vader. And let me say, Vader's sheer power and manipulation of the force is truly a sight to behold. While The Apprentice may be able to match his skills near the end of the game, seeing Vader use these tactics is so much more frightening in comparison. Also, who hasn't always wanted to see Vader go "Wookie tossing"?
The combat of The Force Unleashed is fast, fun, and difficult. You will constantly be challenged by all types of enemies who will do whatever they can to stop you. While the game may not always feature the greatest A.I. programming ever, I guarantee that even the most talented players will be challenged during several moments of the game. Sadly, a lot of this is due to the enemies amazing reaction time to blocking. There were times when I would be behind sometime someone sprinting at the them and they would have to, not only block my attack, but parry it as well. LucasArt's new take on the force makes it rather
