What if God were to make a bet with the Devil? Nothing serious, just some gambling fun to pass the time? This is the story of a race....for all mankind.
There is a holy man who goes by the name of Isaac who is currently employed by none other than the good Lord himself. He has been sent out to put together a team of individuals for an upcoming event that is to be held in the underworld. The event is a race. But this is not just any race. No, this race holds the fate of mankind as the prize. Should the world end now or later? Only the winners can determine that. Isaac's job is to put together a group of individuals that he feels would be best to race against Ezra, the evil and conniving intern to Satan himself. It has been 10 years since the last race and the group they used then was good. Damn good. But for every race, there has to be a new team of mortals.
As Isaac strolls down the streets of Chicago, he spies a young lady, Kiera, struggling with a briefcase and her high heels.
"Let me help you with that." Isaac rushes over to Kiera. She looks up from her struggling and smiles. Isaac is such a pleasant, elderly fellow.
"Thank you. Thank you so much. I almost lost all of my work." Kiera laughs. Isaac does not need to ask Kiera what it is she does for a living. He already knows. He knew the moment he touched her. She is an artist, and a struggling one at that. She has a great gift and Isaac feels that she may be very useful.
"Are you currently looking for work, ma'am?" He asks. Kiera looks at him, confused at first. Then she laughs.
"Actually, yes. I just quit the job that I was at due to lack of pay and it was not very interesting. Not productive, either."
Isaac hands Kiera a white business card. "I have work that is beyond interesting. It even involves some travel and I could really use someone with your artistic touch."
Kiera takes the card. She is not sure what to think about this job offer. There are many crazies in the world and she does not want to fall victim to one just yet.
"I...I don't know what to say. Thank you." She tucks the card away in her shirt pocket.
"That'll do." Isaac is walking away now, a smile on his face. He does not need her to say she'll take the job. By accepting the card from his hand she is recruited and in a short amount of time, she will be on the other side.
Kiera watches as he walks away, unsure of what just happened. When the old man is out of sight, Kiera collects herself and begins to cross the street. From the far left, a car is racing
