Perfecting Beguiling Smiles
Across a white linen veiled table, tinted with exotic brass cutlery
Four people wait to dine, straightened backs perfecting social refinery
Kisses exchanged with quickened haste, as an outstretched embrace longingly lingers
Against a brushing of limbs under draping cloths, interrupted by the waiter's spiels
A perusal of tonight's chef's special, momentarily calms the surging torrents within
Perhaps not the right moment to begin to divulge ones true state and mortal sins
Scarlet lights flashing, as he reflects on the absurdity of the four dining
He angles his pose; his eyes remain averted and continue perfecting
Momentarily saturated in the trivialities of yesterday and tomorrow
Beguiling smiles smother and divert the true essence of their present sorrow
What possessed them to agree to this openly display: To feast upon the ingredients of weakness?
Fleetingly he recalls to love, honour and cherish; as the shackle of gold etches into his creviced skin
He is but a man with a heel of Achilles, son of a mortal destined to cosset in human pleasure
He refuses to be judged on his cavernous lust and passionate affairs, for it is, the fate of all men
Assuming a nonchalant exterior, he fails to capture a heated glance between locked lover's stares
Prominent through a satin shirt, between heaving breasts, an apparition of a woman's lust flares
An arched bushy response from the waiter fleetingly escapes his detached manner
When from the corner of his eye he is jolted by the tenderly placed hand upon his other's
A piercing laugh that shatters a familiar calm amongst their fragile wiles
Reveals a table of four, who clandestinely sit, perfecting their beguiling smiles
