As the center of the hustle and bustle of the US government, the Capital City has lots to offer in terms of history, culture, and diversity. The city also offers many places to see and activities to do, there is rarely a dull moment living in Washington DC and the surrounding areas.

Living in the Washington DC. area is exhilarating and the city's attributes are unlike any other place in America. While DC has all the similar characteristics most cities possess such as heavy traffic, higher cost of living and close proximity housing, Washington DC is a bit unique because of the way it is structured and laid out.

In downtown central DC you won't find many large apartment buildings like you do in most cities. Instead you'll find government offices, museums, monuments and other historical landmarks. You'll find plenty of eateries, hotels, banks and other commercial business too, but housing is more discreet.

Within the city's boundaries there are many terrific neighborhoods which have personalities of their own. Another great thing about this is commuting is a snap because the Metro rail and bus system is on a convenient schedule which will get you anywhere you need to go without having to deal with the headaches the traffic congestion causes.

When you live in the district you may feel as if you are on a permanent vacation because there is always something new to experience. In addition to all of the historical landmarks, monuments and museums there are usually many other events going on on a routine basis if you know the right places to look.

There is nowhere else in the US you can go to and stand in the places former Presidents stood, or patronize businesses where Presidents or other prominent historical figures patronized. Many of the churches, restaurants, homes, and theatres where the US forefathers frequented are still in existence today. DC and its surrounding suburbs are chock full of a kind of history you won't find anywhere else in the United States.

Living in Washington DC is also a wonderful cultural experience. Since it is the center of government, the region is culturally diverse. The city truly represents diverse population since there are so many government, military and diplomat installations located in the district.

In the Washington Metro area you can walk into a school and be greeted in eight different languages on the welcome signs. There are many local restaurants which represent the tasty cuisine from many countries from around the world. Chances
