Saving with ING direct has been a great experience. I first heard about ING direct through TV and then someone else told me about it on line. They said it was the way to go. From there, I was bought and sold. I've been a member since March of 2006 and have enjoyed the ride since the beginning.
Once I established a regular income I began putting small amount of money into the account every two weeks. Before I knew I saw my savings grow. An ING direct savings account gives you the perks of a certificate of deposit with the penalties of early withdrawal. You also get plenty of flexibility. You do not need to put a large amount of money in. All you need is $25.00 which they often give first time members. It's great. You do not have to worry about hidden fees or anything. It's wonderful.
Every experience is not created equal. ING is a great account, but ultimatly the amount of interest your money earns is contingent on the amount of money you put it in. For example, my mother put in a one time amount of $125.00 and never returned. She saw very low payments. This discouraged her. She said to me " ING is not doing well for me." I might as well take my money out." I told her, she had to be consistent. You get more money when you put more in. You can not just throw $125.00 in one time and sit back. Many people see ING as a fast track. It is not. Even though you earn more interest in this account than others, you must work on it. Like anything in life, it takes time and work.
My account is doing very well. This is because I contribute small amounts every two weeks. I like to keep my account growing so I put in all the time. I usually put in anywhere from $25.00 to $50.00 every two weeks. You do not have to be rich to do it. You just need to be persisitent. I treat me ING account like myself. I nurture it and check up on it. It's not meant to be left alone for months at a time. It is like an investment. Actually it is. This money is meant to be for the future. It is meant to enhance your life. The longer you keep it in there the better. I suggest you keep it in for many years. Do not touch it, contribute to it and watch your money grow like crazy. You will be pleased.
This is my personal experience. It works when you are doing something on a regular basis. Overall, saving with ING is one of the best choices I ever made. It has made my life better and put me in the constant mindset of conserving my money.
