Hostel
If you have a weak stomach, Hostel might not be the best movie pick for you. Not only is Hostel one of the goriest horror movies I've ever seen, but it's thoroughly entertaining the entire movie. Sure there are a few random sex scenes in the beginning, but once you get past those, you're golden all the way until the end of the film.
Eli Roth totally delivers what any hardcore horror movie fan craves: a healthy dose of blood and gore. Set in Europe, three friends decide to road trip across the country. They start out in Amsterdam where temptations of drugs and sex lure them in and seem to keep their focus for a time. Their hostel room got "accidently" overbooked and they meet up with two hot chicks who show the boys around the town. One of the guys strangely disapears one night after being out at the club. They can't seem to find him and from then on, things really get take a turn for the worst.
The rest of the movie stays at the hostel where the truly twisted tourturing goes down. Whether it's finger cutting, eye gouging, or just good old fashioned gore you're into, Hostel satisfys everyone's craving for blood. Jay Hernandez portrays the last of the three to withstand the sufferings of the hostel. He becomes the main focus after his two friends fall victim of the blood-thirsty executioners. We watch as he too falls victim to the Hostel's repulsive torture chambers.
Just when you think Jay is done for, he fights back and frees himself from one of the executioner's grasps. After the loss of a few fingers, in a unexpected turn of events, Hernandez turns the tables and becomes one of the executioners himself. He kills the guy who tried to kill him chain saw style and cuts off several limbs chainsaw style. The blood flies and the blood curdling screams fill the air. It's truly satisfying to see the blood splatter the cold and dirty floors.
After Jay dodges his death, we follow him through the rest of the Hostel as he attempts to escape. He gets thrown into a cart full of torsos, arms, and bloodied body parts going to the incinerator posing as a dead body. He is wheeled to the basement where a bloody fat dude chops up the remaining bodies so they can fit into the fire to be burned. Hernandez grabs a knife from the floor and makes his second satisfying kill.
After about an hour of running and revenge, Hernandez finally makes his way out of the Hostel along with a chinese girl who had her eye burnt from the socket. Unfortunately the girl makes it out, but throws herself infront of a train when she sees how ugly she is after having her eye basically cut right out of her skull. So Jay makes his way onto the train, narrowly escaping the tortured Hostel with his life.
The best part has to be the end of the movie. In the last scene. Jay spots the Doctor who runs the hostel on the same train as him. The ultimate revenge is committed in the train station's bathroom when Jay corners the doctor. He blindsides him and slices off several of the doctor's fingers then drowns him in the toilet. It's great when he just walks out after it all goes down, knowing the doctor will never kill anyone again. It's definately a great ending and leaves you feeling satisfied after seeing the doctor's blood soak the stall floor.
So, if you are a true horror movie connoisseur like myself, Hostel will truly satisify your appreciation for blood and gore.
