Dear Santa,
While I know that over the years I seem to have lost that spirit of joy that comes with Christmas I am hoping that this year you can help me to find it. You see my babies are little and don't understand that momma can't afford to fill the bottom of the tree with all their hearts desires as much as I wish that I could. It does hurt at times not being able to get my babies even the smallest of gifts to see them smile. While I don't need anything I do wish for them to have a little longer to experience the joys of Christmas without the disappointments of life. They are really too little to have the light disappear from thier eyes.
You see this year has been rough on us all, no matter how hard we try it's been a struggle. The cycle of bills and disappointments never seems to end but we hope that it will soon. This year if you could send me the strength the get through the season without an overwhelming feeling of guilt at not being able to give them more than the basics I would appreciate it a great deal. I do my best and it's still never enough or it never seems to be. I might like a simple thank you every now and then from my husband or even I love you from my babies a little more often.
Santa if it's not too much trouble if you could make my children happy with the things they have. Even though they have only had the basics of food, clothing and shelter this year there are those that have even less. While at nine and two they are a bit young to understand it all I do wish you that their tiny hearts would fill with compassion and they would be happy to help those that don't have as much as they do.
While it may seem a bit strange to be asking this at my age (which I thank you for not mentioning) I would like it very much if everyone could have food this season. I know that we can't solve these problems over night but if everyone opens their hearts and stops concentrating on what we don't have we might just find we have enough. So I guess I'm asking for gratefulness this year for what we do have instead of frustrations over what we don't.
This Christmas may be slim but it will be good with your help. You are Santa after all and have the ability to send a miracle in the form of joy to us all. Please Santa all I want for Christmas this year is for love and joy to fill all of our hearts this season.
Thank you,
A momma that's broke this year but rich with love.
