Poetry: Insomnia

Here I sit at 3 o'clock in the early morn,

searching Google on my computer and forlorn.

Each morning I rise at the crack of dawn,

unable to sleep as I am a pawn,

of early morning rise which is wrong,

as in bed with my lover I really belong.

Early to bed and late to rise,

I'm different - what a surprise!

Everyone else is smarter than me

they sleep through night and are free,

of this awful insomnia that affects me.

I awake earlier than three many a time,

thinking the alarm clock is about to chime.

Each morning I see it's too early instead.

My wife usually yells "come back to bed."

I check my farm rooster always so true,

only to find he is still sleeping too.

With dismay I start the coffee pot,

and begin my google search alot,

until I end up on the Helium website,

not sleeping the rest of the night.

Again my wife yells from our bed.

"On Helium again, you're sick in the head!"
