Leadership is a quality that you are either born into or you train yourself for. While a lot of readers might assume you either have it or not, it is a quality that can be earned only if you can dedicate your whole being towards reaching that goal. That said however, leadership is not something that comes easy. Instinct is a major player in anyones ability to lead others, while with that in mind it is possible for someone to lead a group of people in a play but in another situation they cannot hope but to be lead.

Your instincts will tell you if you have the ability to lead in a certain area. If for instance you are working as a team and no-one seems to understand where to go or what to do and your heart, mind and soul screams out that 'this is what needs to be done!' then you may have the seeds of leadership within you. You need to be aware that leadership is also a quality that requires good listening and management of people skills. Saying that someone has to do this or that and forcing people to do whatever needs to be done for you does not mean you are a good leader. The people might grow to hate or even lose respect for you. A great saying is that 'A good leader is someone who the people love and will follow unto the breadth and width of the world'.

While instinct will always be the main reason someone becomes a leader, anyone can learn to master the skills of a good leader. You or anyone else may not fall into the category of the greatest leaders of all time however if you treat the people that follow you with kindness, respect and a firm hand when need be, you will be a leader. Learning to become a leader however is a long process. It will involve you or anyone else interested in leading to look at yourselves long and hard. If you find that you resent a lot of people who you work with or perhaps display major social problems then you will need to work towards developing leadership techniques which either solve or counteract anything that will harm peoples views on your ability to lead them

Leadership will always come naturally to some, be it good leadership or bad. Never take to heart that if you are not 'born with this ability' that you should be the follower instead of the leader for your whole life. Go out and lead your friends on a night out, your colleagues at work in a new task or even just your family on a day out. Leadership will come in many different form. It is up to you to find what you can lead in!
