I lay on my back
waiting for sleep to take me
but even if it does
the smallest things wake me
bad dreams bad night
bad days all at once
things unfinished
nothing done
I wonder if I have time tomorow
to do it
I wonder if I'll have the patience
not to throw a fit
I wait and I wait
the sandman at bay
I know I could sleep
so still I lay
but it won't come so I give up
pour a bath
finally sleep comes at last
last sleep last

Poetry: Insomnia
Take a pill for this and take a pill for that
Lock the doors, turn out the lights and don't forget the cat
Put on your pj's

Where I writhe alone, spinning
In this restless trance.
Back and forth as the tide

I am awakened, by this
by C.M. Tucker
If windows would close long enough,
Maybe unexpected dreams would rise
And challenge pain
That keeps insomnia company.
