How to reuse leftover wedding materials and goods

Created on: December 02, 2008

You have just come back from your blissful honeymoon. Your family and faithful friends have already returned all of the items that were rented and/or borrowed, and now you have a mountain of possessions that you purchased for the sole purpose of the wedding. What could you possibly do with all of it now? Below are listed a few ideas:

SILVER

Silver can be used anytime of the year. You could exploit it when you are throwing a friend a wedding or baby shower, or when throwing a formal party. If you do not foresee any of these possibilities in the near future, you could clean it, and use it as a gift to a close acquaintance who usually organizes many weddings. You would be surprised just how much silver a wedding planner collects; they would not be insulted if it had been used, as long as it has been properly cleaned.

ARCH

Your wedding arch could be placed as an exquisite centerpiece in your personal garden. You may consider using it as a grape or rose arbor and setting a bench underneath it to give a peaceful rest area where you could enjoy the scenery and reminisce about that special day, your wedding. Another option, is to use it as an opening of the pathway to your front steps. You may even find gate doors to hinge on to either side of the arch. A fence that complements the arch's material could be erected on either side of the arch to enclose the front yard.

COLUMNS & IVY

Columns could easily be utilized in interior design, whether they stand on either side of an archway that separates two rooms or by the fireplace mantle. You could also place them in an empty corner to give the room more structure. Dress the columns with your wedding greenery as well as floral arrangements that complement the room's colors.

GUEST BOOK TABLE

The guest book table could be set out on the patio for friends and family to convene around during gatherings. Another option would be to use it as a quaint breakfast table in an area that allows plenty of light.

FLOWERS, GUEST BOOK, TULLE, UNITY CANDLE, BOUQUET

Unite all of the smaller things, such as those listed above, into a memoir of your wedding by organizing them into a glass display case or coffee table. You could add a few pictures from your wedding, like the kiss and your rings, and place them in a couple of frames that you may have received as a wedding gift. Not only will this be a constant reminder of the strong love you and your spouse have had together, but the guests will enjoy the conversation starter.
